Hoosick Falls Community Garden
Donation protected
The Hoosick Falls Community Garden works to address the issue of food insecurity by providing fresh produce for the food pantry, and by providing space, education and resources for community members to grow and share collective knowledge of growing.
Our organization is still in its infancy, but is growing every year!
In previous years, we worked to fence the area, install a gravity powered IBC tote for water and build 28 raised beds.
This year, we added 12 blueberry bushes and 9 fruit trees in addition to 5 tilled rows. We have started creating relationships with community partners.
Some goals we have this year include:
1) getting a solar powered water pump to increase water pressure and make watering a more efficient process
2) Build a compost bin for community members to dump their food and yard scraps
3) Creating a beautiful and inviting space where we can offer classes and community events for anyone and everyone in the Hoosick Falls community. This includes making benches or picnic tables, building arch trellises, etc. It also includes any expenditures associated with organizing classes and community events
We deeply appreciate any donation you can make, and look forward to seeing you all at the next community work day June 22.
