-----------------ORIGINAL TEXT--------------

All,

As many of you know, COVID-19 has struck the UK unexpectedly.  While some of us are quite lucky to have jobs that will continue to provide us with support during this time, others are not so lucky.

This includes the wonderful people at Hoopla, who have helped so many people laugh, but have had such a strong impact on many of our lives.  I know some of you are also in positions where you may not be able to help financially, and that is fine.  What I am asking, is if anyone is lucky enough to be able to send some funds aside, however small, we can help the Hoopla team who give us so much to have a bit of a buffer during this time.

All funds are directed toward Hoopla founder and Director, Steve Roe.

Steve, and all the teachers who are impacted right now, we are here for you and thanks for all you have done for us in the past!

As a thank you, please find below for some tips from Steve related to how to practice improv by yourself!

Help Hoopla fund an improv outreach worker to bring improv to everyone after the coronavirus!

If you would like Hoopla to still be there after coronavirus, and for improv to carry on to be available to everyone, please donate!

Hoopla's purpose is to bring the joy of improv to as many people as possible. We aim to make improv fun, open and accessible to all.

That’s hard to do right now, but the coronavirus won’t last forever. And when it's safe to come back we want to make sure we can continue to bring improv to more people than ever, of all ages, from all backgrounds, to all areas of the UK, regardless of their financial situation.

After the coronavirus there are going to be a lot of people who have lost jobs and money. This will mean that without your help improv will become for the wealthy only. You can keep improv open to all by donating and help us bring improv to everyone.

Improv builds community and brings people together through play. After corona is over we will need improv in our lives more than ever, and Hoopla wants to be there to bring the joy of improvising to as many people as possible, once it is safe to do so.

The outreach workers job would be to go and bring improv to community centres, youth clubs, schools, recovery colleges, charities and more across the UK. Their role would be funded by this crowdsourcing and by Hoopla’s ongoing fundraising events, so they could bring improv to new people from all backgrounds at no cost to the participants. This initial crowdsourcing would fund them for the first two years, and we would then set up ongoing fundraising to support them ongoing.

Donating will also enable us to continue to offer free places and diversity scholarships on all of our courses, which we've been doing for over a decade with 100s of people supported every single year.

Hoopla have worked tirelessly for almost 15 years to bring the joy of improv to as many people as possible. This includes:

- Running improv classes for 1000s of people!
- Establishing London's 1st improv theatre!
- Providing performance opportunities and jams for 1000s of performers at all levels!
- Growing the improv audience for London and the UK!
- Putting on festivals and marathons that bring improvisers together from across the globe!
- Establishing groups and shows that grow the diversity of the improv scene!
- Pioneering London's first BAME, LGBT and women in improv nights!

ALL of that is now under threat. So please donate and help us keep improv alive and for everyone.

We believe improv helps with confidence, creativity, listening, collaboration, teamwork, self expression, relationships, mental health and general wellbeing.

Most of all improv at Hoopla is loads of fun!

We believe that this should continue to be available to everyone, of all ages and backgrounds, so please donate and help us make sure improv stays open for everyone!

Hoopla!

Improv for everyone
