The students at Montclair High School are a resilient group of young men and women, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have limited access to outdoor activities. When we launched the Montclair High School Fishing Club, 39 students joined at our very first meeting, showing incredible interest and excitement. For many of them, this will be their first time fishing, and we want to make sure every student has the chance to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.
Starting a fishing club comes with significant costs. One major barrier is the California State Fishing License required for students age 16 and over. Many families are unable to cover these fees, which could prevent students from joining trips and hands-on learning experiences. Your donation will help cover fishing licenses for eligible students, support educational fishing trips, provide equipment like rods, reels, and tackle kits, and ensure equitable access so all interested students can participate. Funds will also help with transportation, entry fees, and supplies for community service projects like shoreline and beach cleanups. Through the club, students will learn responsible fishing and conservation practices, teamwork, and the value of giving back to their community.
This club helps students discover healthy passions beyond their phones, connect with nature, and feel a sense of belonging on campus. Your support helps make these experiences possible. We’re grateful for any support you can offer—thank you for supporting local students and the future of our school fishing club.
