H.O.O.D House - A Safe Place to Call Home

Where would you go if your home was not safe? The reality for many young urban gyrls that leave home due to sexual abuse or neglect is that there is often no where to go. This reality leaves many gyrls facing homelessness or the use of survival sex as a primary means for them to simply stay alive. In instances where gyrls are able to find work, they are often met with sky-high rent prices, unreasonable security deposits, lack of social resources, all on top of dealing with the complex trauma that they have had to endure. These situations are seen far too often at Gyrls In The H.O.O.D Foundation and because of this we started H.O.O.D House.

The H.O.O.D House initiative is working hard to change this reality and give these gyrls a safe place to call home. In 2021 we saw incredible success with our H.O.O.D House program.

H.O.O.D House equips gyrls with a fully funded, fully furnished apartment for one year. All units include rent, utilities, and wraparound services; as well as access to mental-emotional support and life skills development. After one year in a H.O.O.D House, these gyrls leave with the strength, courage, and support system necessary for living whole, healthy lives.

• The purchase of our very own H.O.O.D House! Buying our own building/house will allow us to quickly increase the number of gyrls we’re able to serve.
