Watchay, Aniin, Salam Aleikom;
I create this page with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Patrick Junior Etherington bah on May 9, 2023.
This sudden cause of death is unknown, however, we do know that this beloved was struggling with the effects of intergenerational trauma caused by Indian Residential School Systems, the loneliness and other impacts of the disruption that was brought to Turtle Island.
Patrick Junior Bah was born July 12, 1983 in Timmins ON, to Patrick Etherington and the late Marlene Pasquach Etherington.
Patriock Jr. Bah He was a kind, generous and gentle soul. He was a Protector, a Warrior, a Healer and Advocate. He is seen as a Human Rights Activist - several community members in Timmins have nominated him for the Human Rights Wall of Fame Award. He was very knowledgeable about the teachings of his Ancestors and the Bundle. He was an Oskapewis (Helper) for many years to Elder Patrick Etherington, Elder Frances Whiskeychan and Chief Theresa Spence during her advocacy for Attiwapiskat on Parliament Hill. He took part in 4 out of 9 Ceremonial, Peace and Awareness-Raising Walks with the Mushkigowuk Truth and Reinstatement Walkers. You may learn more by clicking here.
His lovely family Patrick (Senior) Etheringon, Frances Whiskeychan, James Pashquach, Edmund Etherington, Hanamae Etherington, Trisha Whiskeychan, Amelia Whiskeychan, Warren Whiskeychan and his nieces, nephews, friends and extended families mourn this great loss and will miss him dearly.
They invite those that knew him to send prayers, and (if they are able) to join the family in the Ceremonies that will help his Spirit transition Home.
A four-day Sacred Fire (starting date to be confirmed) is being held in Timmins, ON and they will travel together to Moose Factory (his home community) for the burial and funeral service.
This page was created to support the family who are planning these unexpected End of Life Ceremonies. The funds raised will go towards the preparation of the Four Day Sacred Fire, Funeral Costs, Feasts, and any other expenses related to bringing this Peaceful Warrior back to his home community of Moose Factory.
Any, and all contributions of any size are welcome. You may also send e-transfers directly to [email redacted] if you wish to not utilize this platform (and/or for 100% of the proceeds to go directly to the Elders).
I thank you on behalf of the family and send you love and prayers as you grieve this great loss.
