Heiko Meier: Forever in Our Hearts – Honouring His Journey
Donation protected
In 2021, our cherished husband, father (in-law), brother (in-law), and friend, Heiko Meier, was diagnosed with early-onset dementia. Further testing revealed it to be vascular, Lewy bodies dementia—an aggressive form of the disease that profoundly impacts both cognitive and bodily functions.
Heiko, who is due to turn 66 on the 20th January, is a fighter—a battler in every sense of the world. To many, he is known as "the man of steel," with a kind heart, a sharp mind, and a tireless work ethic that seemed unbreakable.
Sadly, his health declined rapidly following his admission to Sutherland Hospital’s Acute Dementia Ward two months ago. The man, the myth, and the legend who bravely faced this relentless illness has now begun his final chapter. But he will spend his last days in peace, surrounded by the love of his family and those who hold him dear.
Heiko lived a life of adventure, love, and unparalleled intensity—a life truly worth celebrating. As we honour his journey, we humbly ask for your support to help us provide the send-off he so deeply deserves. Your generosity, kind words, and unwavering support during this heartbreaking time mean the world to us.
Thank you for being a part of Heiko’s story and for standing with us as we say goodbye to our beloved.
