Honour Our Fallen - Vietnam 50 years on.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Australia’s complete withdrawal from Vietnam, Richard McCarthy OAM, a veteran himself, will be walking from Enoggra Barracks, Brisbane to Bowral NSW over August and September. The walk is to raise community awareness of the physical and mental challenges current personnel endure on return from deployment and when transitioning to civilian life, at the same time acknowledging the commitment of all passed Australian Defence Personnel since the Boer War.

About Richard and Honour our Fallen.

Richard was a National Servicemen, 6RAR/NZ Vietnam 69-70 and in 2017 founder of the Not-For-Profit charity Honour Our Fallen to partner schools in research of passed Australian defence personnel in their local areas and commemorate their service by placing a flag on each grave or ashes wall plaque over ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, annually. The program further acknowledges current veterans and return personnel by encouraging students to randomly acknowledge them by saying ‘thank you for your service.’

Where will my donation go?

The goal is to raise $30,000 which is anticipated to be divided between Honour Our Fallen to assist with the current programs in place and charity Solider On. According to Solider On, 46 per cent of returned ADF members are estimated to have experienced a mental health disorder in the past 12 months, whilst almost 75 per cent of returned personnel have experienced a mental health disorder in their lifetime.
