Wesley Lewis Frey, 74, passed away suddenly on September 25, 2024. Born on February 12, 1950, Wesley lived a life defined by faith, family, and adventure. His unexpected passing leaves a legacy of love and devotion that will never be forgotten.

Wesley's love for God shaped everything he did. He was passionate about sharing his faith, bringing people to Christ, and guiding others to walk in the Spirit. A faithful member of New Life Community Church in Polk City, Florida, Wesley was deeply involved in ministry, including prison outreach. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he lived each day to lead others to experience God's grace. His faith wasn’t just something he practiced—it was who he was, and it shone through in every part of his life.

Wesley’s devotion to his family was equally strong, always giving them his time, support, and love. Wesley was the son of the late Wesley Wentzel Frey and is survived by his mother, Sarah Lewis Frey, of Lakeland, Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Marsha Lynn Frey, and his three children: Renee, married to Derek Howell, and their children Jacob, Joey, and Katy, with great-grandchildren Wes and Margot (children of Jacob); Jennifer, married to Larry Hebble, and their children Alex and Ben; and Reed Frey. Wesley was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Howard Frey, and is survived by Daniel’s wife, Shirley Frey, and their son, Jeff Frey, married to Stephanie, with their children Wesley and Colton. He is also survived by his sister Carol Jean Lutter, who is married to Richard Lutter, and their children Rebekah (with child Jamal), Wesley, and Brenda. In addition to his immediate family, Wesley leaves many other close relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

Before becoming a professional structural engineer, Wesley attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He owned Wes Frey Engineering, Inc. and earned a respected reputation for his dedication and skill in the field. However, his greatest passion beyond his faith and family was flying. As a professional sport pilot, Wesley spent countless hours in the sky, feeling freedom and joy. Flying was central to his life, and Marsha, a sport pilot herself, followed him in his aviation adventures. Together, they embraced the thrill of flight and traveled extensively, making lifelong memories. Wesley’s adventurous spirit also extended to hunting, fishing, and exploring the world, always with Marsha by his side.

A proud veteran, Wesley served six years in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, earning the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1977.

Wesley touched countless lives through his work, ministry, and friendships. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved and valued. Whether through his professional life, dedication to ministry, or being a friend, Wesley became a father figure to all who crossed his path. His wisdom, humor, and unshakable confidence left a lasting impression on those blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at First Alliance Church, 1919 East Edgewood Drive, Lakeland, FL 33803, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has established this fund to help cover funeral expenses and related costs. Contributions are a meaningful way to honor Wesley's legacy and support his family during this time.
