Honoring the Life of Jody Black
On the afternoon of Saturday, September 20th, we unexpectedly lost Jody Black to sudden cardiac arrest— a beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend. His passing has left a deep void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him.
Jody was the heart of his family — a true family man who always put others before himself. He was deeply respected for the many sacrifices he made to support and uplift those around him. Whether it was offering words of encouragement, showing up when it mattered most, or simply being present, Jody lived a life rooted in love and service.
Beyond his devotion to family, Jody was a passionate gamer, a die-hard Ohio State football fan, and had an undeniable love for '90s rap music and sci-fi movies. His humor, loyalty, and warmth made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.
Jody leaves behind his loving wife, Stephanie Dorbin Black — a beloved PHM elementary school teacher and his wife of 23 years — and their two children, Adam (18) and Chloe (16), both of whom are currently in high school. As they face this unimaginable loss, we are reaching out to our community for support.
We are humbly asking for donations to help Stephanie, Adam, and Chloe navigate the emotional and financial challenges ahead. In addition to funeral and memorial expenses, the family is now facing a sudden loss of income, household bills, and ongoing living costs. These funds will help ease the burden of daily expenses, allow
Stephanie to take time off work to grieve and care for her children, and support Adam and Chloe as they continue their education during this incredibly difficult time.
Your generosity will go directly toward helping this family find stability and healing as they adjust to life without Jody.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, support, and for being a part of Jody’s life and legacy. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
