Hi friends, this is Natalie Prass. My mom Peggy suffered a heart attack on May 2, 2024. While in the ICU, Mom had a lot of confusion and doctors told us it could be what they called "ICU Delirium". It was later understood that she's suffering from heart failure and vascular dementia. Unfortunately, her health has been rapidly declining and she's now in hospice care.
I'd like to briefly introduce my mom to you. She has a degree in Speech and Language Pathology and a Masters Degree in Special Education. She spent most of her career working in public schools with children who have a wide range of disabilities. My mom has never had anything bad to say about anyone and she taught me to love and accept everybody exactly as they are. She's a true humanitarian. She always made sure her students had food if they were hungry, had clothes if their clothes didn't fit, and would often pay overdue lunch bills.
Peggy has always been an advocate for kids with special needs. I want to honor her by utilizing GoFundMe to raise money for businesses in the Nashville area that hire and support people living with disabilities. One organization is called Smart Art + Craft Supplies. 100% of their profits benefit programs to promote the health, happiness, and safety of adults living with intellectual disabilities in our community. Another is called Sweet Ability, a bakery whose mission is for people with disabilities to have fun, create, and be empowered by making baked goods.
Alzheimer's is one of the leading causes of dementia, which is why we'd like to donate a portion of the funds to The Alzheimer's Association.
We love you all so much and appreciate the support. This has been a challenging time for us, but we're positive that raising money for these causes would make Peggy so happy.
Love,
Natalie, Eric, and the Prass Family
