Honoring Memories at Old Mount Gillion Cemetery

Donation protected
The Old Mount Gillion Cemetery is deep in the piney woods of Nacogdoches County, TX. This sacred ground is the final resting place of many area residents, dating back to the 1880s. For more than three decades, the cemetery has been in decline. Thankfully, several community members continue to tend to the land, but the work is overwhelming and costly.

A land survey was conducted recently, and 70+ unmarked graves were discovered. Additionally, community efforts have erected a fence and removed trees.

Currently, the unmarked grave locations are marked with a brick or yellow tag. These are not permanent solutions, and will not withstand any significant winter weather. Our immediate needs are to raise funds to purchase markers for the graves.

We welcome your donations and support to continue the work of restoring this sacred ground!

About Me:
Hi! I'm Phoenix Lockett, and my granny is Dorothy Curl Glenn Milner (her parents are Mitch & Ova Curl).

I was born and raised in California and I did not truly understand the impact of Nacogdoches and its historical relevance, until recently. I am one of many, who are eager to help support the efforts of SO MANY, who have done SO MUCH for Old Mount Gillion over the years. If you have any questions or want to join the ongoing efforts, please give me a shout!!
