In Loving Memory of Joan Marie DeFino
Born March 6th, 1981 — Passed November 9th, 2025
On November 9th, our family lost a truly beautiful soul far too soon. Joan Marie DeFino was 44 years old and brought light and warmth to everyone she met. She had a heart full of love and compassion always caring for others, both people and animals alike. Butterflies were one of her favorite things, and it feels fitting that they now remind us of her spirit, free, gentle, and full of life.
Joan was an outgoing and loving woman, but above all else, she was the best mother we could have ever asked for. Her kindness, laughter, and unconditional love touched so many hearts and will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind her two sons, Jadin Hunter DeFino and Daniel Ray Mills, and her daughter-in-law Annika DeFino; her mother, Deborah Louise Elza; her sister, Kimberly Lynn Turner; her niece, Sierra Nicole Curry; and her two grandsons, Antonio Joseph DeFino and Luca Lee DeFino. She is also survived by her grandparents, Shirley and Roy Bartolomeo, and leaves behind many friends and extended family who loved her dearly. She is reunited in peace with her son Tavon Gambrell Jr., father, Joseph Anthony DeFino, and stepfather, Kevin Eugene Elza.
We are creating this GoFundMe to help cover Joan’s cremation and memorial expenses. Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward giving her the respectful and loving farewell she deserves.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered support, or shared kind words. Your love and compassion mean more to our family than words can express.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.— Proverbs 31:25
