Dear loved ones and community,

Our names are Aden Kassaye and Becky Kassaye, and we are creating this fundraiser in loving memory of our mother, Haregwaine “Hareg” Mitiku.

Our mother lived a life guided by faith, humility, and a deep commitment to helping others. She recently passed away, and while our family is grieving, her compassion and purpose continue to guide us. With the support of our family, friends, and community, we are committed to continuing and expanding the humanitarian work she dedicated her life to.

She served quietly and selflessly, always choosing compassion, dignity, and love. Her work supported displaced families, women and children in crisis, elders living in poverty, unhoused individuals, trauma survivors, and people living with mental illness, often with the support of her faith community and close friends.

A major focus of her work was supporting internally displaced people, as well as organizing annual holiday programs during Easter, Christmas, and Enkutatash (the Ethiopian New Year). Through these programs, she reached hundreds of children, elders, and families each year. These were not one-time acts of charity, but ongoing commitments she honored year after year.
