Hi, my name is Erika Perez.

On behalf of my parents, Eduardo Perez and Norma De la Rosa, our family has created this GoFundMe for my brother, Giovanni Perez.

Giovanni—known to many as Gio—is a devoted father, son, and brother whose life has been centered around love, family, and faith. He deeply loves his three sons, Mayson (14), Noah (8), and Jacob (6), and has always taken great pride in caring for them, supporting their interests, celebrating their achievements, especially in sports, and being present in their lives. Giovanni has a passion for music and is enthusiastic about making beats and producing. Anyone who knows him knows his positivity, joyful spirit, warm heart, humor, and gift for bringing smiles to those around him with the smile he always carried.

Recently, Giovanni was diagnosed with an astrocytoma on his cervical spine, which has left him fully paralyzed and resulted in chronic respiratory failure with hypoxia. He now depends on both a ventilator and a feeding tube. During his stay in the ICU at UCSF, our family received the devastating news that his tumor had progressed to terminal cancer. To be closer to home and surrounded by loved ones, Giovanni was transferred to CHOMP, where he remained in the ICU for three weeks.

After many emotional and difficult conversations within the family. With great courage, prayer, and deep reflection, Giovanni made the difficult decision to begin hospice care at home, where he is now spending his remaining time in the presence of his family, wrapped in love, comfort, care, and God’s grace. We trust in the Lord’s plan and remain devoted to honoring Giovanni with dignity and peace in every moment we have with him.

This is an unbelievably painful time for our family. We love Giovanni deeply and want to honor his wish to have a sacred mass and to be laid to rest near his grandfather. He deserves a peaceful, meaningful farewell including a proper funeral and burial. We humbly ask for your prayers, support, and generosity during this time. Any contribution to help cover his funeral, burial, and remaining medical expenses.—no matter the amount—is deeply appreciated and will help us honor Giovanni’s life in accordance with his faith and wishes.
