The RC helicopter community lost one of its brightest lights when Michael “Gator” Gaeta passed away unexpectedly. Gator was not just a familiar face at fields and events. He was one of the most loved, uplifting, and unforgettable people in our hobby.
Gator had a rare gift for bringing people together. He was the guy with the huge smile, the loud laugh, the funny stories, and the helping hand. Whether he was flying, wrenching, hanging out at the flight line, or making everyone laugh on the mic, he made every event better simply by being there. If you knew Gator, you knew joy.
His contributions to the community reached far and wide. He helped shape events like the Winter Bash, pouring his time and energy into creating something special because he truly loved this hobby and the people in it. Pilots from around the world have shared stories of how he welcomed them, encouraged them, and made them feel like part of the family.
The outpouring of messages since his passing says everything. He was the life of the party, a true friend to many, and a legend in the RC helicopter world. His absence leaves a tremendous void.
Gator’s family is now facing the reality of life without him, and they need our support. This fundraiser is our chance, as the community he cared so deeply about, to give back to the family he loved. With heavy hearts, Bert Kammerer, Kyle Stacy, and I joined together to set this GoFundMe up for the Gaeta family. His wife Kathie is the beneficiary and will receive all funds directly, and she has given her full blessing for us to do this on her behalf.
Thank you for honoring Gator’s memory and for showing his family how much he meant to all of us.
Bobby, Bert and Kyle
