Honoring Cory Christianson — A Legacy of Love, Family, and Purpose

Cory was a man of the water, steady, passionate, and deeply connected to nature and people. His life was defined by hard work, integrity, laughter, and the joy of sharing good food and good company. Whether he was cooking a holiday meal for his family or preparing a dish at Skyport Lodge, Cory poured his heart into every plate and every gathering. He built a life centered around connection to the land, the lake, and the people he loved most. Above all else, his greatest purpose and pride were his family, especially his children, Bo (13) and Sophia (14).

In October of 2024, Cory was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer. Despite the challenges, his strength and courage never wavered. He continued to guide, teach, and love with intention, making sure his family felt secure and supported through every moment. Even in his hardest days, Cory talked often about his hopes for Bo and Sophia — that when they graduate high school and begin their next chapters beyond Cook County, they would find happiness, independence, and fulfillment. Some of his fondest memories were from his time in Iowa City, when he attended the University of Iowa, and he dreamed that his children would have the same chance to learn, grow, and explore their passions.

Many have reached out asking how they can help. In true Cory fashion, the greatest gift would be one that honors his devotion to his family by investing in his children’s future. All donations to this fund will go directly toward Bo and Sophia’s education and future endeavors, ensuring that Cory’s greatest wish — for them to thrive, dream, and build meaningful lives — continues to come true.
