Catherine Strobel was a recent Venice high school graduate whose life was filled with warmth, curiosity, and a deep love for her Latvian heritage. Her unexpected passing has left a profound impact on her family, friends, and the community that cherished her. Catherine spent many summers at Latvian Summer Camp Garezers, where she created lasting memories and embraced the traditions that shaped her identity. The camp was a place where she found joy, friendship, and a sense of belonging, and it played a significant role in her journey of self-discovery.

Catherine was also recognized for her outstanding achievements in both Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America) and the Girl Scouts of the USA, earning the highest awards from each organization. These accomplishments reflect her dedication, leadership, and commitment to making a positive difference in the world. Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA are two separate, distinct organizations, and Catherine’s involvement in both highlights her unique spirit and drive. In addition, Catherine attended Japanese school, further broadening her cultural experiences and appreciation for learning.

In honor of Catherine’s memory, this fundraiser aims to support high school students in attending Latvian Summer Camp Garezers as well as water bottles for her high school graduation. The funds raised will help cover camp expenses, allowing other students to experience the same joy, connection, and cultural enrichment that Catherine treasured. By helping a young person attend Garezers, we hope to continue Catherine’s legacy of celebrating heritage and building community.
