Honoring Calvin and Helping His Family

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my mom and our family during an incredibly difficult time.

My stepdad Calvin passed away after a heartbreaking turn of events. He had a heart condition and relied on a pump to keep his heart functioning. When a clot formed, doctors gave him a risky medication in hopes of breaking it up, but it caused a brain bleed. He underwent emergency brain surgery, and for a while, there was hope he might recover, though likely with limited vision.

Sadly, his condition never improved. Doctors confirmed that even if Calvin woke up, he would never be able to breathe without assistance or take care of himself. He had always made it clear that he would not want to live that way. Respecting his wishes, our family made the devastating decision to remove him from life support.

My mom never left his side. She lost her job during this time and is now facing the overwhelming task of planning his funeral without any financial support. Calvin did not have life insurance. She also has two school-aged children to care for and no family nearby. She is hoping to move closer to loved ones so she can have the support she needs to start over.
