Honoring Black Hutto Shiloh Cemetery

Donation protected
I am raising funds for my Eagle Scout project to help bring awareness to the Black Hutto Shiloh Cemetery, a historic site where enslaved people and veterans are buried. This cemetery holds deep significance for the community, and I want to ensure that the stories and lives of those resting there are honored and remembered. My project will involve cleaning the site, installing a memorial headstone that shares the cemetery’s history, creating a stone platform engraved with the names of those recorded as buried there, and placing a memorial bench for visitors to reflect and pay their respects.

This project is especially important to me because I learned about the ongoing efforts to preserve this cemetery and felt inspired to get involved myself. By bringing attention to the Black history of Hutto and the stories connected to this site, I hope to foster greater understanding and appreciation within our community. The work we do will not only beautify the cemetery but also create a lasting tribute to those who came before us.

All funds raised will go directly toward the project—whether for the memorial, cleaning supplies, or providing food for volunteers. Your support will help preserve an important part of Hutto’s history and honor those who came before us. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference. Thank you for helping me make this project a reality!
