Honoring William H. Hall IV: Support His Family's Journey

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved sibling and friend, William (Bill) Henry Hall IV, who was 61 years old. Bill transitioned April 22, 2024. We wish to help Bill's family over this very difficult time, by fundraising on behalf of William (Bill) Hall, Rev. Kevin E. Tindell's husband and ministry supporter.

As you may be aware Bill had been suffering with many health issues stemming mainly from rheumatoid arthritis over the past several years which had made daily activity for him very difficult. He was diagnosed at 17 and has lived his entire life with this debilitating autoimmune condition, having his first joint replacement surgery at 19 and brain surgery at age 54 among many other operations. Bill was left with no option but to step down from working a job that he loved as an Assistant State’s Attorney. Kevin had been Bill's full-time caregiver.

Bill was strong and tenacious as he fought bravely against rheumatoid arthritis for many years with a never-ending smile. Throughout his journey, he endured countless rounds of medications, steroids and spent extensive time in hospitals in recent years. Bill's rheumatoid arthritis had eventually affected his lungs.

A University of Illinois and Georgetown Law alum, Bill was a member of the legal community for 30 plus years as a Public Defender, Administrative Law Judge and Assistant State’s Attorney He was an advocate and warrior for a just and equitable legal system. Bill also served many years on the boards of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago and the Equality Illinois Legal Advisory Board.

Bill was a life-long learner who loved family and holiday gatherings, travel, books, Jeopardy, politics, great food, our dogs, Star Trek and Chaka Khan....and other great dance music!

Bill is survived by his husband, Kevin; three children - Carter, Christian, and Camran; two sisters and two brothers; the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries and Gather Church families; and a host of colleagues, family and friends …..and Thor, the family companion.

As we come to terms with Bill’s loss, we are faced with the daunting task of covering the expenses associated with his passing. Funeral costs, memorial arrangements, medical expenses, and many unforeseen expenses on his family and loved ones during this already difficult time.

Bill touched the lives of many with his infectious laughter, unwavering kindness, and boundless love. Now, it is our opportunity to come together as a community and honor Bill's memory by easing the financial strain on his family.

That's why we have created this GoFundMe campaign. Our goal is to raise as much as possible to cover the expenses associated with Bill's passing in lieu of sending flowers. A contribution will be made to the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago in his name by the family from the donations.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference and help alleviate the financial burden on his family during this challenging time.

We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, but there are other ways you can help.
