It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my beautiful mother, Alice Gutierrez Alvarez, on Thursday, March 5, 2026. My mom was selfless, loving, and deeply devoted to her family. She loved her daughters unconditionally and nurtured each of us with strength, compassion, and empathy. She is survived by her five daughters, Diana, Christina, Ana, Alicia, and Marquette Alvarez, and was the loving partner of my father, Chuy, for 47 years. My mom was truly the backbone of our large family. She sacrificed so much for those she loved and was deeply committed to caring for my Grandma Pavi until the day she passed away. She also helped raise many of our cousins alongside my grandma when their parents had to work, caring for her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. My mom was also one of nine sisters, known lovingly as “the Gs,” who grew up together in the Ramona Gardens housing projects in East Los Angeles, California. Family meant everything to her and she carried those values with her throughout her life. Even in recent years, while facing complicated medical issues, she remained a fighter and did everything she could to take care of herself, faithfully following her doctors’ advice every step of the way. She touched the lives of so many people, and her love and presence will be deeply missed. During this incredibly difficult time, our family is asking for support to help cover funeral and memorial expenses so we can honor her life and give her the beautiful service she deserves.
