In loving memory of a remarkable soul Sandy Gabany, I am launching this fundraiser to honor their legacy by supporting Special Olympics New York. This organization provides year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities, fostering an environment of courage, joy, and friendship.
I will be participating along with my teammates from Kee Safety in the Special Olympics New York Polar Plunge taking place on December 3, 2026.
My loved one always believed in the power of looking after one another; a man of humility, honesty, integrity and love. This was apparent on a Holy Thursday, the Easter Vigil when Father Jim Mulligan just finished the washing of feet of the alter boys and the priest's assistant when Sandy got up from his seat and moved to the alter leaving the church's congregation aghast. There he removed Father Jim's shoes and socks and proceeded to wash the priest's feet.
He proved to be more philosophical than one knew – “you gotta wait” was a resounding directive when deeper issues were broached – such as the Maple Leafs bidding for the Stanley Cup. Go Boston Bruins. Go Buffalo Bills.
- Your donations will help cover training costs for athletes, ensuring they have the resources they need to excel.
- Funds will also support community events that promote awareness and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Join me in making a difference and honoring a beautiful life. Your support will continue their legacy of love and dedication to empowering others.
