Hello friends,

My name is Patrick McCann — but most people know me as Just Pat.

This past November, I had the incredible honor of running the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon as a proud member of Team Imerman Angels. To do so, I committed to raising $4,500. While I didn’t fully reach that goal, I learned something important: I’m not giving up.

Running for Imerman Angels changed my life. The experience taught me so much about perseverance, discipline, and the power of community. I met amazing people, pushed through physical challenges (including some tough stomach issues on race day!), and crossed the finish line knowing I had accomplished something meaningful.

Now, I’m moving forward with renewed determination.

What I’m doing next

I am launching this fundraiser with two clear goals:

Raise $2,500 to earn a spot on the Imerman Angels team for the 2026 TCS Chicago Marathon

Finish raising the remaining balance from my 2025 NYC Marathon commitment

Once I reach the $2,500 goal for Chicago, I will continue fundraising until my full NYC Marathon balance is complete. I made a promise to this organization — and I intend to keep it.

Why this cause means so much to me

Imerman Angels is deeply personal to me. My stepfather, Douglas Thomas, passed away from cancer, and several other family members and close friends have also lost their battles. They are my angels — always with me, guiding me, and reminding me why this work matters.

Running for Imerman Angels allows me to honor their memory while making a real difference for people who are currently facing cancer.

Imerman Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone. They provide free, one-on-one emotional support by matching cancer fighters, survivors, previvors, and caregivers with trained volunteers called Mentor Angels — people who have been through similar experiences and truly understand.
