Every Christmas Eve, the streets of our community come alive with the spirit of Grand Market. It’s a time when children’s laughter fills the air, and the sweet aroma of popcorn, cotton candy, and snowcones brings joy to everyone. This cherished tradition was started by my father, Rohan "Washy" Bryan, a man whose generosity knew no bounds.

My dad was a pillar of our community. He believed in giving back in every way he could. Whether it was coaching the local soccer team, sponsoring pageant contestants, or donating to those in need, he always found a way to make a difference. One of his most beloved traditions was treating the children to popcorn, cotton candy, and snowcones during Grand Market. He loved seeing their faces light up with joy.

But his kindness didn’t stop there. Every Christmas morning, he would have breakfast with the residents of the local infirmary, helping to prepare and serve their meal. He also made sure that the children at our local church received toys, spreading happiness and cheer.

Over the years, countless people have shared their testimonies of how my father touched their lives. Parents speak of how he helped their children, and many homeless individuals recall the times he extended a helping hand when they needed it most. His absence has been deeply felt in our community, especially during the back-to-school season when he would organize events to support families in need. Recently, someone told me how much the community misses his help, and how many people he used to assist are now struggling.

This year, I, Alysha Bryan, his daughter, am determined to continue his legacy. I am organizing a fundraising campaign to ensure that we can keep this beautiful tradition alive.
