For over 20 years, Springfield, Oregon residents have enjoyed the magnificent American flag flying 140 feet high at 38th and Main . I am a nearby neighbor and see this symbol of our freedom everyday. It is a constant reminder of those who fought and died that we might experience what we often take for granted. Old Glory has come into disrepair and needs to be replaced.
Jim Dobson, the owner, has bought many huge flags at his own expense through the years. He is a veteran and a patriot. He tells me that the pole is actually an old logging tower a friend had. It is anchored 16 feet into the ground. We want to get a 40' x 70' flag to increase the size of this magnificent patriotic statement in our community!
Let's help our Springfield neighbor get a new American flag! We would like to have it flying by Flag Day on June 14 or by Independence Day at the latest. What a wonderful way to honor our veterans and other patriots during this season of remembrance and celebration. We are grateful for any size donation. Thank you for your support.
