A Note from Mikeal’s friends…
A Loving Father's Legacy Lives On
We are heartbroken to share that Mikeal Rogers, a beloved father, husband, and pioneering force in the tech world, passed away on June 9, 2025, at just 42 years old after courageously battling colon cancer. Behind his remarkable achievements as one of the creators of Node.js and a leader in open-source development, Mikeal was, above all, a devoted father to his two children: Kora (age 7) and Kai (age 2).
Honoring a Legacy of Community and Giving
Mikeal believed deeply in the power of community and collaboration. Throughout his career, he demonstrated that amazing things happen when people come together to support one another. Now, we have the opportunity to embody those same values by supporting the people who meant the most to him, his children and his loving wife.
Supporting Their Future
While Mikeal's innovative spirit and generous heart touched countless lives in the tech community and beyond, his sudden passing has left his wife Anna and their two young children facing some uncertainty related to maintaining their life in Alameda on a single parent’s salary.
Your donation will directly help:
- Educational expenses for Kora and Kai, ensuring they can pursue their interests and talents
- Daily living expenses as the family navigates this difficult transition
- Future opportunities that will help the children build on the strong foundation their father provided
Every Contribution Matters
Whether you worked alongside Mikeal in the open-source community, benefited from his technological innovations, or simply want to support a family in need, your contribution will make a meaningful difference in Kora and Kai's lives. No amount is too small—every donation helps secure their future and honors the memory of a man who gave so much to make the world better.
Mikeal's influence on modern technology will continue to provide benefits for years to come. Let's ensure that his greatest legacy—his children—have the support they need to thrive, learn, and perhaps one day change the world just like their father did.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for being part of the community that Mikeal loved so much.
