An 18-year-old man named Gideon Robinson is a hero after rescuing two young children from a burning vehicle on July 7, 2025, @ approximately 10:55 am.
The crash occurred outside Gideon Robinson’s home along U.S. Highway 190 in Newton County. Upon hearing the collision, Gideon rushed out to the scene and found a car with smoke beginning to fill it. Inside were April Coker and her two daughters, ages 6 and 3.
Gideon stated, “I seen two kids in the back, so then I saw the car start to fill up with smoke, so my reaction was just to hurry up and get the kids out safely,” He called out to his grandmother to call 911, then grabbed a shovel and used it to break the back window out of the vehicle. Gideon also said, “I had tried to get the little girl out first. I got her out of the car seat. Then I got the other little girl out. Regretfully I had to leave their Mom. I had to leave her there because she was in critical condition."
Gideon reflects on the fact that his parents have taught him to always help those in need. About 2 and a half weeks before this incident, on June 18, 2025, Gideon's Dad passed. So with everything on this young man's mind, he was able to put away his emotions and feelings and reflect on his parents' guidance and run to help save these 2 little girls' lives and their mother.
Gideon has been praying for April Coker and has remained in close contact with April Coker's family. Gideon is very excited to be able to meet April once she can do so. I am pretty sure he will be greeted with love and respect that we can only imagine! Gideon Robinson and his actions are the definition of a true HERO!!
This GoFundMe has been created to show our love and appreciation to Gideon for his bravery and courage and also to help out with any of his needs as he soon begins his senior year at Newton High School.
