On November 2, 2025 we lost a cherished member of our community. Bruce Higgins lost a courageous 6 year battle with cancer that he fought silently and bravely. And although Bruce has been battling this disease for some time, his death was very sudden and unexpected. This death has left Bruce’s soulmate, best friend, and wife - Lori and his two amazing children, Maddie and Ryan, to navigate this new reality without their incredible husband and father.

Bruce was a decorated Boston Police Detective and his current assignment was the BPD Gang Unit. Bruce was beloved on the job by all who knew him and those who were lucky enough to work alongside him.

Bruce was a gifted athlete playing college basketball at Bridgewater State where he had record setting seasons. After his playing career, Bruce impacted the lives of countless Parkway children as their coach in softball, soccer, baseball, flag football and the sport he loved the most - basketball. Bruce continued his basketball coaching career on the same court where he excelled through high school at Catholic Memorial.

To know Bruce was to love him. He was truly a one of a kind person, and the type of friend you only get once in a lifetime.

Since his passing there has been an amazing outpouring of support and love shown for Lori, Maddie, and Ryan. The question that is asked over and over is “what can we do to help?” While there is no one answer, it is believed that the best way to help Bruce’s family is with a donation on this platform. While nothing will relieve the pain that they are feeling, a donation here will show them the love and appreciation that we all have for a man who touched so many of us in a positive and impactful way in only 51 short years. With a donation here we can ease some of the financial burden that the family now faces in the absence of Bruce.

God Bless you Bruce, you are already so missed and will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
