Honey for The Hive Community Space

Donation protected
The Hive in Port Hadlock has been a hub for a wild and wonderful range of community events since founders, James & Gabrielle Vanwert, opened their doors in September of 2023. From toddler play groups to grief circles, from yoga to martial arts, from sound healing to cancer survivor classes, and so much more, this generous space with those beloved tatami mats has made newfound community connections possible. This project has been a labor of love for the Vanwerts, who knew that a space for movement and connection was sorely needed as our communities emerged from the pandemic to find one another again.

Now, two years after its opening, The Hive needs our help.

James & Gabrielle have kept the rent low and provided a generous sliding scale, as many of us know, to keep the space accessible. But that means that the funds to keep the space thriving are sparse. Without external funding, the Vanwerts have been quietly subsidizing The Hive's significant overhead expenses since the beginning.

This GoFundMe is an opportunity for the community members who benefit from the generosity of this space to give back.

If 50 people chip in $25, we start to offset the revenue shortfall for the expenses of running and maintaining this lovely space for a month. If 600 people chip in $25, we contribute the honey needed to keep The Hive flourishing for the next 12 months, giving the Vanwerts a bit of breathing room as they continue to build and beautify this space that we love so dearly.

Have you attended an event at The Hive in the past two years? Remember your awe upon walking into this beautiful space and thinking, “Wasn't this once a thrift store?! How did they do this?!!!”

Help us keep the doors of this fantastic community center open and lighten the load on the shoulders of its founders. Please chip in to power this fundraiser, keep The Hive thriving, and show the Vanwerts how their investment in community can become sustainable for all of us.

The Hive has been a vehicle for immeasurable community cohesion, beauty, healing, repair and release that would not have happened otherwise. Seeing what the Vanwerts have made possible, please share your gratitude generously through this fundraiser so that The Hive can continue to thrive for years to come.
