Extreme gang violence and death threats pushed me to suddenly leave my beloved extended family and home in Honduras almost a year ago. My wife, two children and I fled to Mexico, a country we knew little about. Unfortunately, we encountered new dangers such as extortion, kidnapping and discrimination against migrants there. Our hope now is to cross into the United States where we believe we will find peace and security. We’re now in the border town of Ciudad Juarez, but the situation is quite dangerous here as well. I’m eager to find work and create a good life in the US for my wife, two children and new baby after all the trauma they’ve experienced. —Juan Carlos

We –a small accompaniment team in Northern California formed to help Central American asylum seekers– have established this GoFundMe campaign to help Juan Carlos and his family. They are indeed in dire straits while waiting to cross the border legally and register as asylum seekers. Our team is providing some emotional and logistical support now but the family also needs economic help. We are asking for your generosity in providing funds that will make it possible for them to survive at the border and later travel to our area where they can set up a new life near recently-arrived relatives also seeking asylum. Both families may be able to face some challenges together, but Juan Carlos’ family still need financial assistance. Any amount you can donate is much appreciated.

Hace casi un año, la violencia extrema de las pandillas y amenazas de muerte me empujaron a abandonar de repente mi hogar en Honduras y los amigos y parientes queridos allá. Mi esposa, mis dos hijos y yo huimos a México, un país esencialmente desconocido para nosotros. Lamentablemente, encontramos peligros nuevos como extorción, secuestro y descriminacion contra los migrantes. Nuestra esperanza ahora es cruzar a los EEUU donde creemos encontrar paz y libertad. Ahora estamos en la ciudad fronteriza de Cd. Juarez pero la situación es bastante peligrosa aquí también. Tengo muchas ganas de encontrar trabajo y crear una buena vida para mi esposa, dos hijos y nuestro bebé nuevo, especialmente después de todas las traumas que han experimentado.-Juan Carlos

Nosotros –un equipo de acompanimiento en el Norte de California formado para apoyar centroamericanos buscando asilo en los EEUU– hemos establecido una campaña para ayudar a Juan Carlos y su familia. Ellos están de veras en una situación precaria mientras esperan cruzar la frontera legalmente y así registrase para el asilo. Actualmente, nuestro equipo les da apoyo emocional y logístico pero la familia también necesita apoyo económico. Pedimos que sean generosos en ofrecer algo que facilitaría que sobreviven mientras estén en la frontera y después poder viajar a nuestra area adonde desean crear una nueva vida cerca de parientes que llegaron hace poco y quienes también buscan asilo. Pueda que ambas familias enfrenten algunos retos juntos. Sin embargo la familia de Juan Carlos necesita apoyo económico mientras. Cualquiera cantidad que puedan donar sería muy apreciada.
