Homeschool Prom for All—Little Rock
Donation protected
One of the local homeschool groups has offered wonderful events for our kids to connect and forge lasting friendships. From class gatherings to elaborate proms and graduation ceremonies, we have cherished these moments of togetherness.
However, our joy turned to disbelief when we discovered that the prom policies aimed to exclude some of our dear friends based on their gender identity. This revelation struck a chord within us, challenging the very essence of love and acceptance that we strive to embody.
The policy was announced with formal invitations: “For this event, we are requiring all attendees to come dressed in the attire that aligns with thier biological sex at birth.”
In response to this discordant policy, we have chosen to chart our own course by organizing a prom where inclusivity is celebrated. A place where everyone, *without exception* will find a warm embrace and a seat at the table.
Let us stand united in our commitment to love without bounds, embrace diversity, and celebrating the beauty of each unique individual. Together, we can create a tapestry of acceptance and understanding that transcends barriers and welcomes ALL homeschoolers (and their friends!) with love in our hearts.
***GFM was chosen to represent transparency of mission and fundraising. All funds donated will be used to pay for venue rental, decorations, food and support of an amazing inclusive event for 9-12th grade Homeschool students in Central Arkansas.
Depending on what we are able to raise, the goal is to make the event low-cost for attendees, to prevent any financial barriers to attend. Any extra funds will be used to begin a fund for next year’s festivities and to grow the event.***
Thank you for the support you’ve shown the community to support what matters most: celebrating friendship and coming together to make amazing memories of their youth, and feeling like they will always have a place to belong.
