Homes for Heroes Eagle Project
Donation protected
40,000 veterans struggle with homelessness in the United States.
When considering what kind of Eagle Project would be meaningful to me, I thought of the veterans, how they served our country, and how important it is to take care of our heroes. Driving by the Sumner County Veteran's Home in Gallatin, I could tell that the converted 1950s motel could probably use some extra help. As I suspected, the home had many apartment units that were empty due to the unlivable conditions of some of the rooms.
Here are my 5 goals of the Eagle project:
1. Raise $5000 through personal donations to match a $5000 Home Depot Foundation grant in order to provide $10,000 of home improvement materials to the Veteran's Home.
2. Help update/renovate 5 apartments for homeless veterans at the SCVH.
3. Help the SCVH become more ADA compliant per fire marshal as well as refresh the landscaping.
4. Install military service flags beside each of the 33 apartment doors in order to boost morale, show appreciation and commemorate their branch of service.
5. Raise awareness of the Veteran's Home in order to inspire others to help them in the future.
I am calling on you to help me. Please donate to my Eagle project in order to provide a home and restore a sense of dignity to the men who sacrificed so much for us. I would like to have my fundraising completed by November 11 (Veteran’s Day). If you would like to honor your favorite veteran by making a donation to my project, I will gladly write a personal note to thank them for their service and let them know that you have made a donation to a cause that will help a fellow veteran. Please send me their name, address and their rank by direct message through GoFundMe so that we can keep their personal info private. (PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE INFO IN THE COMMENT SECTION AS IT WILL BE MADE PUBLIC)
Thank you for your consideration,
