I don't know how many times students in my district have tried to use the resources for emergencies offered by the school and they are turned away because of some technicality. Our district is a bureaucracy and bureaucracies are unbendable and, ultimately, heartless.

I don't know how many times I've gotten in trouble for sidestepping our administration to help students directly, but it's been a lot. And I'm doing it again because there is a family with a small child in need. If they don't find shelter by Saturday, they will be homeless.

The district told them that they have to wait until they are homeless until they can start helping, but that isn't possible when a child will be out on the streets.

So I'm asking us to come together as a community to help them out so they can secure a hotel room.

Whatever you can give will be a blessing.
