Some of us are born into a family. A mom and dad who are married. who work. We have brothers and sisters. grandparents. family friends.
We go to church on Sunday. the park on Saturday. We are invited to birthday parties. We take summer vacations to the beach.
We complain when the electricity goes out. When the laundry is piled so high we're gonna have to do a load before bed.
Some of us have warm, clean sheets in a home we call our own. Our address doesn't change. Our parents don't leave. Our situation doesn't change.
But some of us grow up in foster care. Some of us watch our mother be addicted to drugs. We watch as she goes to prison.
Some of us yearn for a grandmother who would step in. but instead, she too, is neglectful, abusive.
We find ourselves heavily medicated at a young age because of our "display of emotions". Emotions which are just a response to our lives.
Some of us search for love anywhere we can find it. We get pregnant by men we barely know.
Some of us don't have a single role model.
But somehow, from ashes...we rise.
We become a single mom with two kids who needs a place to call home.
This is Amanda's story.
Amanda has turned her entire life around and she needs your help.
Can you help us get her a home? Can you help her kids break the generational curse of poverty? Can you donate just a few dollars to help change the life of three people?
