The Blue Mile

We are producing a Documentary Film and weekly Podcast along with a homeless community in Santa Rosa, CA  teaching them how to communicate their needs and concerns directly to the public and especially their supporters and the volunteers on the front line of helping this ever-growing problem.

The Blue Mile
There was a full 1-mile stretch of wall to wall tents on highway 12 in Santa Rosa, Ca that recently was forced to move. Sonoma county provided 60 tiny homes approximately 10X10 ft with medical services and support staff to assist the lucky selected on getting off the street. Even thou the new settlement has no services in the area there will be shuttle taken groups into town 2-4 times a day.

The Film and Podcast will record interviews and loan equipment for the homeless left on the street as well as the people living in the tiny homes since the county can not let media in the camp understandably for their privacy. They will record interviews on there own and we will include selected media to release on our weekly podcast. 

This disconnect we feel is the main problem in helping to solve the problem of not spending the money on what benefits the homeless directly. As you might have heard California now has 1.5 Billion dollars for homeless projects in California.


Herzog Educational Film Foundation supports and develops the production of documentary, retrospective and contemporary films to advance knowledge and educate and inform students and the public on historical, social, environmental and cultural activities of importance to the community. The support of others is achieved by enabling developing filmmakers to expand their professional skills to enhance a successful career path. Includes internships, mentoring, on-the-job-training and instruction, shadowing and resource identification.
