Homecoming Fund for Mr. Emil Vazquez
Donation protected
At the end of this month, Mr. Emil Vazquez will return home to his family, friends, and community in Queens after nearly 12 years of incarceration in New York state prisons. Through EPIC’s Parole Advocacy Project at NYU Law, we (Abhiraj, Ellie, and Galia) have spent the last several months working closely with Mr. Vazquez to prepare him for his parole board interview and now, his return home. It has been a joy to get to know and support Mr. Vazquez. Although navigating the last months of his confinement has been challenging, Mr. Vazquez has exuded the courage, integrity, and tenacity that we know will enable his successful transition back into his community. We have organized this reentry fundraiser on Mr. Vazquez’s behalf. All funds will go directly to Mr. Vazquez to support his immediate reentry needs.
Mr. Vazquez looks forward to spending time with his family and continuing his education upon his release. Mr. Vazquez is a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, husband, and father who is devoted to his family and is excited to be able to support them to his fullest ability. His mother, father, and two older brothers eagerly await being reunited with their youngest child and sibling. His wife and daughter look forward to living together as a family for the first time. While incarcerated, Mr. Vazquez earned his GED, an electrician’s certificate and has completed 32 credits toward his associate’s degree, which he hopes to complete when he gets out.
Coming home from prison poses unique and enormous challenges, especially after so long. Any amount you can donate in support of Mr. Vazquez is greatly appreciated. All funds will go directly to Mr. Vazquez’s immediate re-entry needs, including food, clothing, hygiene, transportation, and his continued efforts to find meaningful employment and educational opportunities.
