Update Dec. 6th, 2025: As of late November 2025, our legal matter has been finalized outside of court since we came to a buyout agreement with our co-owner. I’ll leave this GoFundMe up for the time being in the hope that more support will be offered by those whom choose to do so. The buyout amount has placed a lot of financial stress on us since our only financial support is reliant on Government subsidies with restrictions on our employment capabilities. Final fees not covered by the re-finance that we had to pay-out in borrowed cash was near $14,000.00

We need your help to cover the costs of lawyer fees, legal proceedings and whatever other costs that may arise from this matter. Anything helps.

To make a long story short, we went through the court process to seek justice for someone who caused unimaginable harm to my daughter when she was very young. Due to the judge’s decision to acquit the accused, I am legally not allowed to disclose any names. We lost court due to the abuse being "historic" and lacking physical proof.

After all that heartbreak, disappointment and pain of the above mentioned, we then received a letter from the abuser's father's lawyer, whom is also our the co-owner of our home, demanding that he wants $300,000.00 as a buyout or we chance losing our house as part of the Ontario Partition Act. The requested buyout is vexatious & malicious. Purely a vengeful tactic on the co-owner's part.

Since March 2019, we have paid the monthly mortgage plus all utilities, the co-owner has paid none.

We've repaid $27,000+ toward repairs to the co-owner since March 2019. Which he conveniently left out of his correspondence letter from his lawyer, saying we haven't repaid anything.

We have a lawyer but being a low-income family on ODSP, we do not qualify for Legal Aid due to the circumstances of this legal matter.

Expense & fees (updated Nov. 2025):

Court fees have been avoided due to coming to an agreement with other party. Court scheduling was set for Sept. 23rd, 2025 but cancelled.

Out of the eight members in our family, seven are living with ADHD and/or Autism. My wife also has fibromyalgia, generalized anxiety disorder, and is diagnosed with both ADHD and ASD. As her legal caregiver—an arrangement recommended by our family doctor to ODSP—I’m required to be with her full-time, which makes it extremely challenging for me to be employed.

We have six wonderful children, and it's essential that we maintain this home for their well-being. It's the most stable and supportive environment for their growth. Disrupting their routines or living situation could seriously impact their mental and emotional development. Such changes would be especially difficult for those with autism, who are particularly vulnerable to stress and emotional distress when removed from familiar surroundings.
