Hi there, I'm Gavin and this summer I'm going to attempt to be the first person to ever swim across the Irish Sea solo. It's a colossal 100km swim that will take anywhere between 30 and 40 hours of straight swimming. I'm doing ti by the standard open water swimming rules, that means no wetsuit or any thermal aids. Just a hat, goggles and a pair of toggs.. I'll have a support team in boats and kayaks that will help me eat and drink but everything else is just between me and the water. I'm taking on this challenge that no one has ever conquered before to raise funds for the Pieta House charity who do such important and amazing work for people suffering with mental health issues including depression and suicide. Over the next few months I'll be documenting my training and build up to the swim across social media. I'll share all the aspects of this challenge with you and you can see how important swimming has been to my own mental health. Any donations that you can make will be greatly appreciated and make such a difference to someone's lives.
