Holstein Avenue of Flags Storm Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alex Conover. I am organizing a fundraiser to help raise funds for the Holstein Avenue of Flags after recent damage from this morning's storm.
Memorial Day has always represented a day when our nation stops to celebrate the servicemen and women who have given their lives in the services to their country. Unfortunately, on this memorial day, a devastating rain and wind storm came through the area causing damage to property.
The Holstein Avenue of Flags was especially hit hard in the morning storms with damage to the poles, clips, and over 350 flags. The avenue has over 500 flags flying in tribute to veterans who have served our country who have connections to Holstein. With 22 of those flags representing "Gold Star" Veterans who gave their lives in the line of service. The Holstein Avenue of Flags honors veterans who served in wars and conflicts as early as the American Civil War to - present day.
An order will be placed to secure new flags; each flag costs roughly $25 dollars. The legion hopes to have as many flags repaired or replaced in time for Flag Day/Holstein Kinderfest. They are hopeful this will be possible but know it will be a considerable effort to accomplish these in the short time frame.
Not only are funds needed but anyone who wishes to help sew by repairing damaged flags or double stitching new flags can contact the legion to offer their talents and services.
