Hello! We are Kyle and Alicia Holst. A shared characteristic of ours is our desire to be parents. Here's our story:
It is a story of boy swipes right on Tinder and girl swipes left, boy's profile comes around again and girl's mom thinks "He looks nice" and swipes right. After weeks of talking and trying to coordinate a date, they met during a blizzard in January 2016 at a local brewery. After a great night of drinks and talking, girl didn't think boy was very interested and didn't expect a second date. He asked for numerous dates after that. In October of 2016, they went out to the beach to walk the pier. They took a selfie in front of a sailboat and while girl was looking at the sailboat, boy said "I'll buy you a sailboat." (We are not boaters.) Girl turns around to the love of her life on one knee asking her to marry him. August of 2017, they were married in front of all of their friends and family. They wanted a family right away.
Unfortunately, our baby was not meant for this world and a week after finding out we were pregnant, we miscarried. Including this, we've had 3 egg retrievals, 1 polyp removal surgery, 3 embryo transfers (2 embryos each time) resulting in 1 miscarriage and 2 failed transfers, a transfer of fertility clinics to one in New York, numerous medications, tests, and thousands of dollars spent along the way. We've shed so many tears, muttered an unmeasurable amount of prayers, and had a rollercoaster of emotions. Through this all, we've tried to remain positive. We have been very transparent with our journey and we've had more support than we could ever imagine.
Because of our difficulty having children of our own, Kyle and I both feel called to adopt. Even if we get pregnant naturally or with either of our remaining frozen embryos, we will be adopting. God has laid on our hearts that our child has already been handpicked by God for us. This is where we turn to our family, friends, and tribe: we need your help. Adoption in the U.S. can be around $50,000, but thankfully, ours will be just over half of that. If you feel called to make our dream of parenthood a reality, we ask you to donate whatever amount is on your heart. We cannot thank you enough for your gifts, supportive thoughts, and prayers. Not only do we need your prayers, but the birth parents/family of our future baby need your prayers of strength, support, and love. We cannot wait to find our baby and maybe a bonus family of the biological family. Whatever way God makes our family, we know it will be beautiful!

After 8 months of trying, they consulted a fertility doctor. The doctor told them that unless an act of God happened, they would need medical intervention. While we believe God could do it, He has led us on a different path. After our first IVF transfer in August 2019, we got our positive test. We were pregnant!
