Year 5 of Holidays in the Hospital is here!!
I am so excited that this tradition has been able to continue, with huge thanks to the support of community around me. My mom and I started this passion project in 2021 to help me find some sort of meaning behind my disease and what it’s brought me is far more than I could ever have imagined.
I recently found out that one of my nurses, Ingrid, has passed away. Ingrid was my first nurse for my first heart Cath (that I was aware of happening). This was for my transplant testing and she made me feel safe, comfortable, and calm the entire process. Her laugh was infectious and her humor and gusto made all of my anxiety go away. When I came back from my transplant, we picked up where we left off and since then, she had made it a point to say hi to me every single time I was at the Cath lab. This year, Holidays in the Hospital is in her honor. May she rest in peace.
Like the past, my mom and I are putting together bags that bring comfort to patients who are in the hospital during the holidays. Mom makes special blankets and we pack them into bags with goods that we’d all want for comfort in a hospital bed: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo/ conditioner, hand sanitizer, lip balm, workbooks, playing cards, motivational pieces, and socks.
This year, I’d love to raise enough funds to purchase 50 issues and the shipping of the newest Bonus Days magazine. Alison and the Bonus Days team work extremely hard on this passion project and supporting her like this would be so amazing. That alone would be close to $750.
If you’d like to purchase your own issue of Bonus Days, you can on https://www.bonusdaysmag.com
I’m in every issue writing about books.
Every cent, dollar, and/ or share is appreciated. We couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you in advance.
Take care of your beautiful heart and thank a healthcare worker. Ingrid, this one’s for you.❤️
