Wilya Janta lost one of their own on Friday; Jimmy's eldest daughter, a young lady who was deeply loved but who lost hope. We are heartbroken and we now call on you for some help as we support Jimmy, his family and the community over the coming weeks.
Our plans of attending the Lowitja Conference in Adelaide and the 10x10 fundraiser in Sydney over the next few weeks with Jimmy will continue, however they have now become more expensive as some young people are travelling with Jimmy to surround him with love, support and admiration. In addition to travel costs, we need to raise funds to help pay for some family to attend Sorry business in Tennant Creek, cover funeral costs and help celebrate the life of a precious young woman.
Wilya Janta is like a spark that will ignite warlukun (fire), but it is also a precious seed of hope, a ngarli, one that needs to be nurtured. This is where hope comes from. We want to show the Tennant Creek community that we embody hope and care for the community beyond reinvention of housing design, and we will never give up.
In deepest respect to the beautiful young lady that has been lost to our founders, her fathers and her mothers and brothers and sisters.
