For all of you that know us personally, you know about our many years of struggling with infertility and the miracle he gave us in our adoption of Emerson just over two years ago. She is the light of our life and we absolutely adore her!
Last November she started asking, "Where is Emerson's baby sister?" So, we started praying.... every time she asked, we responded with a prayer for her to repeat after us; "Dear Lord, please give me baby sister, soon".
So this came as such a complete surprise; this week our daughter's birth mother reached out and let us know that she's expecting another baby and she would like us to adopt! This is family. Our daughter's biological sibling
This expectant momma is due in February (just a few weeks away!) and located in New York City. We will be retaining a lawyer in NYC as well as in Texas in order to process the adoption, complete a home study and last minute travel to the city (which up to a two week stay in order to get cleared to travel).
If you're not familiar with private domestic adoption, it's expensive. We honestly hate talking about money, especially when it involves our children. But: here's the reality - we finalized Emerson's adoption less than 2 years ago with several years to save. With this baby: we aren't in the same situation. Instead of months/a year or more to save, we have less than 2 weeks.
We're still in shock that this is happening; I feel like I've been in a stunned state since we found out. I can't even express how much your support would mean to us... please keep us in your prayers as we navigate a tricky legal process and travel to a very big city to bring home baby Hogue ♥️
