HLG Gives 2022: Supporting Garrett's Place

Happy Spring, Harris Local Government! In addition to our spring cleanup campaign to support Garrett's Place, we thought we would offer the option to support Garrett's Place financially. This agency works to assist foster children from 0 to 18 by giving them a suitcase and something more to take with them into a foster placement. They are located in Bessemer, AL, close to our regional HLG office in Hueytown! Between May 9th and 23rd, we welcome your financial or physical donation to children in genuine need.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month. Many children in foster care have no bag or luggage; they often must resort to a shopping or garbage bag to carry what few belongings can be hastily gathered. Garrett's place offers children a piece of luggage to call their own and a 'shopping trip' experience to add items to that bag to ease the transition into a foster placement.
