HKP Campaign for PP-160

Who Are We?

We are the Haqooq-e-Khalq Party (HKP), a political party registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan, organised for democracy, human rights, climate justice and a state that serves the country’s working class. HKP stands against the injustices and inequalities of dynastic politics and business as usual. We are contesting our first election ever from PP-160, a Provincial Assembly seat from Lahore. Haqooq e Khalq Party’s Electoral Symbol is the Loudspeaker, representing our objective of amplifying working-class voices and building peoples’ power.

Note that in an earlier edition of this campaign (before election delays) our work fell into the PP-159 boundaries.

Why PP-160?

PP-160 is located in Lahore’s industrial neighbourhood of Kot Lakhpat, the site of a glorious working class movement in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, the area represents a typical working-class neighborhood in Lahore, with scant access to clean water, a broken education system, widespread disease and pervasive unemployment. For the past many years, we have concentrated much of our efforts in the area, where we are running community clinics, educational institutions and working with trade unions to revive the progressive movement. By mobilizing a strong campaign in a key node of Lahore’s working class, PP-160, we are reigniting the working-class movement and progressive politics, inspiring hope throughout the country, and encouraging more ordinary citizens

to join electoral politics.
