Forbid COVID
Who Are We?
We are the Forbid COVID Team, founded by Chris and William; a 6th and 7th grader from North Carolina. As of now, we have expanded our team to 10 members, comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders all over the country. Since mid-March, we have been at home and practicing social distancing to contribute to the fight against the the Coronavirus known as Covid-19. However, we also believe that there is much more that we can do to help in this fight. Recently, we have been inspired by the many nurses and doctors who are risking their lives every day and are working relentlessly to help sick patients with the Coronavirus. We welcome anyone interested to join us!
What’s Happening
Currently, there is an ongoing crisis. More than 300,000 people in the US are infected, and thousands have died. And this will continue to be a serious threat if no initiatives are taken. Confirmed cases each day are growing exponentially, and the CDC has estimated that 160-216 million people in the US will be affected throughout this pandemic.
Many nurses and doctors throughout the US, like the ones shown here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dxvInqsSus), are limited to one mask a day and are asking for any donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Even worse, in some cases, nurses have been asked to continue to work without masks. Imagine being on the front line of this pandemic with personal contact with those with the virus and not having the necessary equipment to keep yourself safe or to keep your family safe when you return home.
Our goal is to donate as much PPE to doctors and nurses locally as we possibly can.
How We Are Going To Help
To help our cause, our team is going to reach out to reliable manufacturers to purchase masks, N95 respirators, coveralls, and other PPEs to provide for our local hospitals.
The process which this happens can be summarized in 3 steps:
1. Manufacturers produce PPEs
2. PPEs are delivered
3. Our team will distribute these products to hospitals
