Kathy's Cause
Donation protected
Kathy (White) Kain, 49, is my cousin's wife. Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago. She opted to have a double mastectomy and was cancer free until 2019, when she was diagnosed with malignant metastatic brain cancer. On August 30th, 2022 Kathy collapsed at home and stopped breathing. Her husband Aaron was thankfully home at the time and called 911. Aaron was able to revive Kathy and she was rushed to the hospital. Kathy is currently fighting for her life in a care center. The out-of-pocket expenses for the ambulance transports, ER visits, and the cost of treatment at the skilled care center ($8,000/month) are extensive. In Aaron's own words, "It's weird to be on the side of needing support and it's difficult for me to ask or even know what I need for help. I'm now playing catch up with bills and trying to organize family routines. Kathy is the absolute rock of our familly and took care of almost everything. It's just overwhelming."
Kathy is beautiful, full of life, and a very devoted wife and mother. Kathy always puts the needs of others before herself. Kathy and Aaron have two children, Zach, a sophomore at DMACC and Kiera, who is a junior at Urbandale High School. Our goal is to help Aaron with expenses so he can focus on helping his children cope with this tragic situation and provide them with stability, and also enable Aaron to provide Kathy with the care she needs to allow her to get home to her family. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for Kathy, Aaron, Zach, and Kiera, and we would be grateful for any contributions you are able to make to Kathy's Cause. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
