Hello,
My name is Jim Sandman. On behalf of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, Stones River Chapter of Murfreesboro, TN, I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support the their efforts to restore, preserve, and maintain the Captain William Lytle Historical Cemetery, which was senselessly vandalized in June 2025.
At least nine graves were damaged or toppled over.
It is located at 739 NW Broad St, Murfreesboro, TN, behind the Haynes Lumber Company building.
Captain William Lytle served in the American Revolution, and afterwards was granted land, some of which he donated for the founding of Murfreesboro, named after another soldier in the War for Independence, Col Hardy Murfree.
For many decades, this Tennessee Historic Cemetery has been the site of multiple community events and ceremonies held by local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
As America has begun celebrating its 250th anniversary of its founding, please consider donating and joining us in this historically significant project. Thank you for your support!
If you would rather donate by check, make it payable to:
Stones River Chapter TNSSAR, and enter "Lytle Cem" in memo space.
Mail to:
