Want to join us in making a difference? The PORT BURWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY is raising money to save and restore our community's historic lighthouse.

Our lighthouse is the oldest wooden lighthouse on the Canadian shores of the Great Lakes and it is now in danger of collapsing. Structural Engineers have determined that 6 of the 8 structural support columns are severely compromised and the entire lighthouse needs to be restored. The initial estimates for the restorations are $1.5M (CAN).

As of Friday, July 31, 2026 the PORT BURWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY became the official custodians and stewards of one of the oldest wooden lighthouses in Canada with the transfer of ownership of the Lighthouse from the Municipal of Bayham to the Historical Society.

The PORT BURWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY has initiated a community fundraising program to save this iconic artifact, symbolic of Port Burwell's ship faring association with Lake Erie and the other Great Lakes.

We need your help! Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the community of Port Burwell.
