Hisani Foundation Tanzania

Hi,

My name is Lauren and I am the President and CEO of Hisani Foundation!

Hisani Foundation came about after my trip to Kenya (specifically working with an NGO called KenyaConnect). After 2.5 weeks in Kenya, I spent a week in Tanzania, chatting with my connections and tour guide (Abu with Longway Expeditions) about what services are needed, what he'd like to see changed and how I could help. Shortly thereafter, Hisani Foundation was founded.

We are a group of passionate individuals, all with connections to or living in Tanzania. We believe in forward progress and the success of the youth.

Our projects include sponsoring a safe house for Maasai women and girls who have endured sexual, emotional and physical abuse, creating a mobile library to encourage literacy, boreholes and water catchment methods to help with clean, potable water, and a after school program that teaches about sexual education, menstrual management, body boundaries and self confidence. We are also hoping to create a short and long term volunteer program where people from all over the world can come and volunteer amidst their travels within Tanzania.
